He never said much about it. He did speak more about after the war. After the war the Czar was interested in having people come to Russia as there was much open land to farm. His sister and [her] husband went and at some point after that he went also. My father had a great affinity for animals and farming. The soil was very rich and not only was good for farming but for taking the manure and drying it in Forms. It could then be used for heating houses. He also spoke of working with horses. He was very good with them and could get them to do what work he needed to get done. It was interesting to me to hear him speak so highly of the Czar of Russia especially when I was young during the 40's and 50's when our country's relationship with Russia was certainly not good.
