He was a great guy, he played with his grandchildren, always bought flowers for anniversary. Loved to garden, had a victory garden in WWII. Too old to be a soldier during WWII so he had a plane spotting station on his property as part of the Fairfield Home Guard. He dropped out of HS in Bridgeport to join the Ambulance Corps. He was about 17. They drove at night without headlights. He had a camera during the war and took photos. He had a camera with his name inscribed in it. He was gassed late in the war. He enlisted from Fairfield and returned there after the war. Story in family says he tried to ride motorcycles from Fairfield Beach to Penfield Lighthouse. Show less
