Show moreHenry Gutt, age 23, was inducted into the U.S. Army on December 3, 1917. He served first in the 151st Depot Brigade before being assigned to the 28th Engineers, companies A, C, D & F. He served in France as part of the American Expeditionary Force from June 30, 1918 to July 6, 1919. He received an honorable discharge on July 9, 1919. Henry Gutt returned home to Killingworth where he was a farmer who he grew his own vegetables and raised cows and chickens. As an adult, he lived in Killingworth in his parents' home. Though he never spoke of his war experiences, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Madison, and marched in Memorial Day Parades. He passed away at the age of 64. Show less
