Show moreJohn Francis Conroy (1895-1959) was a resident of Hartford, and was employed at Colt Firearms as a machinist. He enlisted in the US army in April, 1918, and was assigned to the 113th infantry regiment of the 29th Division as a machine-gunner. John was severely wounded in a gas barrage on Sept 20th, 1918 during the Meuse Argonne offensive that ended the war. His older brother Michael would be killed the same week at Cambrai.
